Staying Alive....staying alive.....

Still here and still running, albeit less than I should. Thought I'd start with a title of an annoying song to get revenge on Simlin for 'physical', sang that bloody thing for ages after reading it.
In Warrnambool for work until Xmas, and getting home every other weekend. Quite nice around here, with plenty of quality scenery:)
Managed to get 2 runs in this week, only 5 & 6.5k's respectively, but 2 solid gym workouts too so not feeling like too much of a slacker. Joined the local gym on a 1 month casual membership, quite a good setup there and a couple of large pools too (indoor & outdoor), although not much chance of me baring my body in them (allergic to harpoons:)).
Still having problems with Planterfasciatis, and now my right foot feels like I have disjointed one of the metcarpals or something? not too painful normally but sore to touch that area and definitely feels like it needs an adjustment of some sort by a chiro/physio/podiatrist.
I am sticking to the shorter distances for the time being and working on improving overall fitness in the gym too. Feels great to be lifting a bit of weight again but trying to ensure I keep it to a manageable level and concentrate on low weight/high reps as I DEFINITELY don't need any more bulk!
Trying to start each workout with some good cardio either on a bike/stepper or something, which gets my heart rate into a fat burning zone and then allows me to maintain a reasonable rate for the rest of the weights workout. I am switching it up a bit too incorporating a fair bit of stretching and stomach work as well as rotating the area of my body I am working that day.
Hoping to get a free fitness evaluation/program developed to also help me ensure I am on the right track and getting the maximum benefit from the program and doing the right things to achieve my goals. I have to say though I am loving the gym workouts, really enjoying the buzz your body gets doing resistance training, it is quite a different feeling from running. I am still enjoying the running though although still carrying injuries now some 4 months later is getting a bit annoying and has probably dropped off the motivation a bit.
My physio and I have agreed that if no improvement by Xmas after treatment and a reduced running program, it's off to the podiatrist I go. We both wanted to avoid any orthotics as I don't like to prop things up artificially if I can avoid it, but it may be that is the right solution for me. Any words of wisdom out there would be appreciated?

To finish off I watched the Noosa triathlon festival today and it refreshed my interest in participating in one of those next year when the bulk of my remaining weight is off and my fitness improved. The mens winner swam 1500m, biked 40k and ran 10k in 1:47, unbelievable!!!! terrible place to have to do it in too:)

You sure do get around the country! If you are keen to do some triathlons here is a link to the Tri SA calender. There are quite a lot of small triathlons which are great for working the distance up.
